I got involved with the radio control hobby back in 1988, but it was with model helicopters initially. I eventually got involved with R/C cars and I began racing in 1993. Since then, I have won two major titles, 1996 Modified Sedan NORRCA Nationals and the 1997 Modified Sedan ROAR Nationals. In International Events, such as the Reedy Race of Champions, I finished 4th in the Invitational class in 1998, 6th in 2000, 5th in 2002 and 4th in 2003.

I have tried other brands of radios in the past but none compare with Futaba when it comes to performance and reliability of every component Futaba is unmatchable. Because of this, I've used nothing but Futaba since 1989, and have been a team driver since 1995.

I have been racing R/C cars since 1972, and over years of racing it is clear to me that Futaba is not the standard for which all radios are judged because their name has been around a long time, it is due to their durability and no worry quality, be it a club race or an IFMAR worlds event.

Mark Pavidis

I got started in R/C with my dad back in 1983. I quickly became attracted to the R/C car racing scene during that time and in 1984, I started racing for Associated Electrics. I raced with Associated until 2004. During those twenty years, I won numerous races and National titles. In 1995, I won my first World Championship in Japan competing in the 4WD Off-road Electric World Championships. In 2005, I switched teams and will be racing for Kyosho in all electric and gas classes. I'm very pleased to be a part of the Futaba team and look forward to winning in 2005.

When you are born and raised in a racing family, you demand the best equipment, and Futaba is the best. Futaba was my first and is the only radio I have ever owned. Every vehicle and boat in our stable is equipped with Futaba servos and speed controllers as well. When you are racing on road, oval, off road, nitro and electric, the last thing you want to do is worry about a mechanical failure. To this day Futaba has never let me down or cost me a victory. Actually, they have helped me win several championships. It has been a true honor to be a part of Team Futaba since 2002 and I look forward to a great future with the team. Who knows, maybe my son Max, 5 years old, will be the youngest Futaba team member the way he is already driving. Futaba equals excellence!

At the age of 11, I started racing nitro RC cars. I have been racing competitively ever since. I have won numerous FORGASS championships. I have been in the top 10 in 1/8 scale and sedan on-road for the past 2 years, competed at the 2003 1/8 scale worlds, at the age of 14. I have also won the 2005 Winter Nats in sedan, racing against the best drivers in the world. I am very glad to be a part of the Futaba racing team, because racing at this level there is no room for error. That is why I run Futaba, the best in the business. I am also proud to be associated with a great race team, and an excellent company.

I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and have been racing carpet for the last four years. I work as an Applications Engineer for a process instruments company. When I'm not working, and occasionally when I am, I'm usually thinking of ways to help our local track or my racing program.

Being the party responsible for managing The Gate, in Cleveland, demands my attendance a few times a week. Though, it's time consuming, it allows me the opportunity to properly test any new products or changes that I implement, which is a facet that I thoroughly enjoy about the hobby. The design, and balance, of these cars has remarkable impact on the results.

I'm always trying to push things forward with feedback that I can give to the manufacturers that support me. As things constantly progress, I yearn to have a part in leading that progression. Racing primarily on carpet, I have been working closely with Schumacher/USA to refine the existing electric sedan for foam tire racing in the US. Our changes have resulted in national A-main results for me this year at the USTC, and ROAR Carpet Nationals.

Through all the testing and development, Futaba has been my electronic gear of choice. It's robustness and precise performance allows me to see everything that my car is doing with each change. From day one in the hobby, I've had nothing but top notch performance from Futaba and I am pleased to be part of the Futaba team.

Sonny O

Sonny O

My name is Sonny Ochoa, or as people like to call me "Sonny O." I live in the town of Addison twenty minutes West of Chicago. I am a very out going person and like to help people do better at R/C racing, there is no better feeling in the world than to help someone and watching them come off the drivers stand with a great big smile. I have been racing R/C cars on and off since 1988. Four years ago I got hot and heavy into the competitive side of R/C racing, all I wanted to do is race and win. Now that I am on the very best possible team of radio gear, engines, and fuel I never again have to worry about my equipment. All I have to do is try my best, it's all up to me now. I am looking forward to working with the best quality products and team in the R/C industry.

Brian Buaas Name: Brian "Snowman" Buaas

A short blurb about myself: I've been playing with models since I was 7 years old. I started flying RC airplanes in 1979 and have been involved in some form of RC ever since. I tinkered with nitro boats in the 80's mostly just sport running; at the same time racing 1/10 scale off-road at a few of the SoCal tracks. Electric airplanes caught my eye in the mid 90's. I found myself designing and selling models under the Raptor Aerosports label. Club racing electric pylon planes lead to F5D pylon racing and a spot on the 1998 US F5D team competing at the FIA world champs (5th place individual, 2nd place team). I spent the next few years building/flying competition hand launch gliders (HLG). The highlight being a 7th place finish at the 2002 IHLGF where more than a quarter of the field flew my newly designed Raptor DLG. In 2004 I built my first FE boat, a 17" catamaran powered by a retired F5D pylon motor. It was great fun and surprised everyone at the 2004 LA FE SAW's, 43 mph in N2 offshore. The addiction set in and the rest is history. I try to have a no secrets attitude. There's nothing better than helping racers grow as competitors. The most memorable races are the close ones, it almost doesn't matter who wins. It's fun to win, but a hotly contested loss is more memorable than a runaway win.

Russ Williamson Name: Russ Williamson
Location: Champaign, IL
Years racing: 4 yrs. Marine, 20 years everything else...
National Championships: 3
World Championships: 1
Favorite classes: .21 Sport Hydroplane, .21 Tunnel Hull
Recent Accomplishments:
2008 World Champion .21 Sport Tunnel
2007 IMPBA National Champion .21 Sport Tunnel Hull
2007 IMPBA National Champion .21 Sport Hydroplane
2007 IMPBA National Champion .21 Mod Tunnel Hull
A short blurb about myself:
I built my first boat in 1988, Dumas 1/8 Scale Unlimited Hydroplane powered by .67 OPS engine. I still remember the first time I launch it. Even the first run with engine rich, it was way cool on the water! Flying airplanes, racing 1/10 super-speedway on-road, etc., I knew boat racing would be way too much fun and it is exactly that! 16 years later (after racing 1/10 on/off-road, 1/12 scale, 1/8 on-road) the opportunity opened up to start racing on water. It is the best!
